What are the payment options for Pathé Thuis?

How much do films cost at Pathé Thuis?

At Pathé Thuis you can rent or buy a film. When you rent a film, you can watch it for 48 hours after selecting the play button. Rental films are priced from €1.99 to €5.99. You buy a film if you want to watch it multiple times. After purchase, you can watch the film as often as you want in the Pathé Thuis apps. You pay a higher price for buying a film, as this film can be watched unlimitedly. The cost of a purchased film varies per film.

 

We offer films in both SD and HD quality and in most cases you pay €1.00 more for HD.

 

Our Premium films may differ from the (rental) price. These films have been added to the Pathé Thuis collection earlier and different rates apply to them. Any vouchers and discount codes are not valid for these films.

 

How do I pay for a film at Pathé Thuis?

At Pathé Thuis you only pay for what you watch and are not tied to any subscription. You can pay at Pathé Thuis with Pathé Thuis credit, direct debit, PayPal, iDEAL or credit card. You can easily pay for a credit via iDEAL, after which you can watch multiple films with one payment. Link your account via direct debit and you can rent and buy films straight away. With PayPal you can swiftly and easily pay per film with just one click. Payment for a single film via credit card or iDEAL is only possible via laptop or desktop.

On smart TVs, Tablets, iPhone and Playstation 3 or 4 you can pay for films via Pathé Thuis credit or PayPal.

 

Pay directly (iDEAL and/or credit card)

Credit card
You can of course pay safely with credit card. You then pay for the film directly. When you rent or buy a film, choose 'Credit card' instead of 'iDEAL' and then 'Betaal met Creditcard'. You can now enter your credit card details in a secured environment. After completing the payment you will find the rented or purchased film in your account, at 'Mijn Films'.

iDEAL
If you prefer to pay for a film directly, without Pathé Thuis credit or Paypal, you can easily do so via iDEAL. Select your bank and follow the steps to pay. After the transaction is completed, you will find the film in your account at 'Mijn Films'.

 

Pay with credit
You can easily pay for a credit of 10 euros or more via iDEAL, after which you can watch multiple films with one payment. You can create credit as follows:

  1. Go to www.pathe-thuis.nl
  2. Log in with your Pathé Thuis account
  3. Click on your name and select the option 'Tegoed ophogen'
  4. Choose an amount and select your bank
  5. Pay via iDEAL

The payment is processed via stichting derdengelden Buckaroo and is transferred to account number 243144881. Please note that in some cases it may take a little longer for the credit to be processed by the bank. If the credit has not been added to your account after 30 minutes, we advise you to contact us via our contact page. Please include the email address you use to log in and, if possible, attach a copy of your bank statement.

 

Where can I find my credit?

You can find your Pathé Thuis credit in your account. Go to your account details via the website or the app by clicking on your name. In the menu (on the website under 'Tegoed ophogen') you will find your current credit.

 

How does 'linking bank account' work?

By linking your bank account once, you can now watch films at home with the press of a button. This is the same as a direct debit. You transfer €0.01 once to validate your account. As soon as you purchase a film, the amount will be debited from your account within a few days.

 

If there is insufficient balance on your bank account, you will receive a reminder from us per email after five days. You can use this email to pay the outstanding amount immediately. You can also find outstanding payments in your account.


In the meantime, your account will be blocked and you will not be able to rent or buy new films.

How do I link my bank account?
When you create a new account, you will immediately be asked whether you want to link your bank account. This can of course also be done at a later time.

Go to the website or app and log in. Via the menu you have the option to go to 'Koppel betaalgegevens'. You can link both your PayPal account or your bank account.

  1. Choose 'Koppel betaalgegevens', then enter your bank and click select 'Ga naar je bank'
  2. Via the following steps you transfer €0.01 to our account once to validate your bank account.
  3. After completing the steps, you can immediately buy and rent films. After purchase, the amount you owe will be debited within a few days.

 

How do I diconnect my bank account?
You can disconnect your bank account at any time. Go to the website or mobile app and click on the menu. Click on 'Gekoppelde betaalrekening'. You will immediately see which link is active. You now have the option to deactivate and remove the link.

 

Pay with PayPal
Connect your PayPal account to your Pathé Thuis account and pay per film with just one click of a button. After connecting your PayPal account, you never have to enter payment details again and you automatically pay via PayPal.

You can add your PayPal account via 'accountinstellingen' > 'Betaalgegevens koppelen' > 'PayPal koppelen'.

Do you not have a PayPal account yet and do you want to open one? You can open a new PayPal account directly via 'accountinstellingen' > 'Betaalgegevens koppelen' > 'PayPal koppelen' - and connect this new account to your Pathé Thuis account.

You can only use a PayPal account if a verified bank account or credit card is linked to it.

 

Disconnect PayPal
If you no longer want to pay with PayPal and want to transfer to using Pathé Thuis credit, you must disconnect the PayPal account from your Pathé Thuis account.

  1. Go to www.pathe-thuis.nl and log in
  2. Click your name at the top right. In the menu that opens, you can click 'Gekoppelde betaalgegevens'.
  3. In the new window, you can deactivate and/or remove the connection with PayPal.
  4. You can now rent a film with your Pathé Thuis credit.

 

Cancel PayPal agreement
If you want to cancel your Paypal agreement, you can do this via the settings of our service. If you prefer to do this via Paypal, follow the steps below.

  1. Go to Settings
  2. Select Payments
  3. Click 'Show' next to Manage automatic payments
  4. Select Pathé Thuis/Thuisbioscoop with the filter and click Cancel
  5. Click Cancel automatic payments to confirm your request

 

Important notice Android app
Unfortunately, we are forced to adjust our payment options due to new and stricter rules from Google. In concrete terms, this means that you can no longer top up the wallet of your account in the Android app or (un)link your bank account/PayPal.

The only way to arrange this is via the Pathé Thuis website. There you can rent a film directly via iDEAL or your credit card. Do you still have a balance in your wallet? You can still use this in the Android app.
